Desde el año 2011, asistimos a cambios significativos en materia de educación intercultural bilingüe (EIB) y educación intercultural en el país, liderados por el Ministerio de Educación gracias al impulso proveniente de las organizaciones indígenas, instituciones educativas y de la sociedad civil que, por décadas, han tomado iniciativas de desarrollo de modelos pedagógicos y en generar experiencias que den respuesta a las demandas de las familias indígenas por una educación de calidad para sus hijos e hijas. Exigencias que, más allá de la acceso a la escuela, aseguren un tratamiento pedagógico que valore y respete las culturas y las lenguas que conviven en nuestros territorios Éste es el contexto que marca las contribuciones de investigadores especialistas y activistas impulsores de la educación intercultural, quienes desde distintas áreas del conocimiento abordan una realidad compleja que requiere un lugar preponderante y visible en las humanidades, las ciencias de la educación y las ciencias sociales. SÍLEX Vol. 8 No. 1 Intercultural Education: A Commitment to Justice and Equity. Since 2011, we have witnessed significant changes in matters of intercultural bilingual education (IBE) and intercultural education in the country, led by the Ministry of Education thanks to the impulse from indigenous organizations, educational institutions, and civil society that, for decades, have taken initiatives in the development of pedagogical models and in the generation of experiences that respond to the demands of indigenous families for a quality education for their children. Demands that, beyond access to school, can ensure a pedagogical approach that values and respects the cultures and languages that coexist in our territories. This is the context which marks the contributions of specialist researchers and activists who promote intercultural education; those who, from different areas of knowledge, approach a complex reality that requires a prominent and visible place in the humanities, educational sciences, and social sciences.
